About Brightlingsea
Brightlingsea is one of the east coast’s most attractive and unspoilt harbours. It is popular with sailors, families looking for a traditional seaside holiday, nature lovers who appreciate the stunning coastal/country walks and nearby nature reserves, and those just looking to relax and unwind alike.
In winter the ethereal beauty of the estuary is truly extraordinary and the town’s many great cafes, pubs and restaurants offer a cosy welcome. In summer the water and beach become the focus. There’s a traditional open air lido, childrens’ paddling pool, beach hut lined promenade, crabbing from the jetty and boat rides around the harbour.
The town centre offers a host of local shops including several supermarkets, butcher, baker and greengrocer, plus there is a popular fish stall open on Saturday mornings at the hard.
Historic Colchester and Dedham, Beth Chatto Gardens, Clacton, Walton, Frinton and Wivenhoe are amongst the many interesting places to visit with a half hour drive.
